A Level 2 charger on a 240V circuit adds 15–30 miles of range per hour, depending on your vehicle and charger output. That means a typical EV can go from near-empty to full overnight every night without any planning or concern.
We install for all EV brands — Tesla (using their adapter or a universal charger), Ford F-150 Lightning, Chevy Bolt, Rivian, Hyundai Ioniq, and all others. Most installs take 2–4 hours.
A standard Level 2 charger install (panel to garage, 40–50A dedicated circuit, NEMA 14-50 outlet) typically runs $700–$1,500 depending on the run length and conduit requirements. If your panel is at capacity and needs a sub-panel or additional breaker work, that adds to the cost. We assess the panel and quote flat-rate before starting.
Permits are typically required for a new 240V circuit installation in Baltimore City and County. We handle the permit process as part of the job. Skipping the permit means the work isn't inspected — which can create issues when you sell your home or make an insurance claim.
Most 200A panels have space for a 40A or 50A breaker for an EV charger. 100A panels in older homes sometimes don't. We assess this before quoting — if your panel needs an upgrade first, we'll tell you and give you the full picture on cost. A panel upgrade may be worth considering if you're also adding HVAC, a hot tub, or other high-load circuits.
A NEMA 14-50 outlet gives you flexibility — any portable Level 2 charger plugs into it, and you can take it with you if you move. A hardwired charger is more permanent and slightly cleaner-looking. Most homeowners go with the outlet for flexibility. Tesla's Wall Connector, ChargePoint, and most major brands support both options.
