Replacement vs. New Install

Replacing an existing ceiling fan is typically a 1–2 hour job. We remove the old unit, verify the ceiling box is fan-rated (a standard light box is not strong enough and will cause wobbling or failure), and install your new fan.

No existing wiring? We can add a ceiling fan to any room by running wire from a nearby circuit. This typically adds 1–2 hours to the job and requires a small switch installation at the wall. We keep drywall cuts minimal and patch where needed.

We install customer-supplied fans — just have the box and instructions ready. We also work with whatever brand or style you've chosen, including smart fans with WiFi-connected receivers.

Frequently Asked Questions

A straight fan-for-fan replacement runs $220–$275. Adding a fan where only a light fixture exists (same box, fan-rated box installed) is in the same range. A fully new install where we run wire from scratch starts around $425–$650 depending on distance and access. We quote flat-rate before we start — no hourly surprises.

Yes — we install customer-supplied fans all the time. Have the box and instructions available. The only thing that can affect price is if the fan requires special mounting hardware or is unusually heavy (over 50 lbs typically needs a brace kit).

Standard light boxes are not rated to support a fan's weight and movement. We replace the box with a fan-rated box (either a brace kit that installs through the hole without attic access, or a new fan box if there's attic access). This is included in the job — it's not an upcharge.

If the existing wiring only has one switch leg, we have two options: run a second wire for independent switches (more work, cleanest result), or install a remote control receiver inside the canopy that lets you control fan speed and light separately without touching the wiring. We'll tell you which makes more sense for your situation.
